Jumanji 3 has had rough go of it. Originally, production was meant to start six years ago. However, the COVID pandemic put that to a grinding halt. After that, it wasn’t until 2024 when fans of the franchise were assured the movie was still coming.

We now know that production is in full swing. Filming began in November of 2025 and the film is set for a theater release on December 11th, 2026.

Currently, there is no trailer for the film and plot details are still unknown. But, the cliff-hanger ending in Jumanji: The Next Level, made it clear that the next adventure is going to take place in the real world, rather than the protagonists jumping into the videogame.

The IMDb page confirms everyone’s favorite videogame personas will be present in the film including Dr. Smolder Bravestone (Dwayne Johnson), Ruby Roundhouse (Karen Gillan), Professor Shelly Oberon (Jack Black), and Franklin ‘Mouse’ Finbar (Kevin Hart) all set to return.

Danny Devito will also be a new addition to the franchise. His role in the film is currently unknown. DeVito finished his time filming on February 16th, 2026. The director of Jumanji 3 is Jake Kasdan who worked as a producer on the last two Jumanji productions. Kasdan is also billed as one of the writers for the movie.

Currently, it is unknown whether Jumanji 3 is the official title of the third film, though it’s likely not, if the previous two titles are anything to go by.
